In the state of Pennsylvania, children 14 or older have the right to consent to their own treatment, and to full confidentiality and privacy regarding information concerning their treatment. In such cases, information about treatment will be shared with parents with their child's written consent, within the limits of confidentiality discussed above. In my experience, most teens will provide this consent, and I will make every effort to respect the privacy of the teen while keeping parents appropriately involved.
